The Journal of Medical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases (JoMMID) is a peer-reviewed, open-access quarterly publication of the Pasteur Institute of Iran. JoMMID aims to disseminate high-quality research and advance knowledge in the fields of medical microbiology, infectious diseases, and related disciplines.
JoMMID welcomes submissions of the following article types: original/ research articles, reviews (including mini-reviews and full reviews), systematic reviews, meta-analyses, short communications, case reports, letters to the editor, and commentaries. Detailed guidelines for each article type, including word limits and format requirements, are provided in the Instructions for Authors. The journal's scope encompasses, but is not limited to:

  1. Infectious diseases epidemiology and public health
  2. Emerging and re-emerging pathogens
  3. Advanced diagnostic techniques for human and animal infections
  4. Antimicrobial resistance mechanisms and novel therapeutic approaches
  5. Molecular epidemiology and genomic surveillance of pathogens
  6. Host-pathogen interactions and host susceptibility factors
  7. Immunology of infectious diseases and vaccine development
  8. Microbial pathogenesis and virulence mechanisms
  9. Vector-borne and zoonotic diseases
  10. One Health approaches to infectious diseases
  11. Environmental microbiology and its impact on health
  12. Microbiome studies in health and disease
JoMMID is committed to publishing high-quality, innovative research that contributes to our understanding of microbial pathogens, their interactions with hosts, and strategies for prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of infectious diseases. We particularly encourage submissions that:
  • Employ innovative methodologies or technologies
  • Address global health challenges
  • Translate basic science findings into clinical applications
  • Promote interdisciplinary collaborations
  • Promote transparency through data sharing and reproducibility. Authors are required to include a data availability statement in their manuscripts, specifying whether data are publicly accessible (e.g., in repositories like Figshare or Zenodo), available upon reasonable request, or restricted due to ethical or legal constraints. JoMMID supports reproducible research by encouraging detailed methodological reporting and, where applicable, sharing of protocols, code, or materials

All submitted manuscripts undergo rigorous peer review, focusing on scientific merit, originality, clarity of presentation, and relevance to the journal's scope. JoMMID is committed to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics, adhering to guidelines from the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE), and the World Association of Medical Editors (WAME). Authors are expected to follow best practices in research reporting, including transparency in authorship, conflict of interest disclosure, and ethical conduct of studies involving human or animal subjects.
JoMMID aims to advance knowledge in medical microbiology and infectious diseases, with a focus on improving global health outcomes. By fostering the exchange of ideas and disseminating high-quality research, the journal seeks to address pressing global health challenges, including infectious disease prevention, diagnosis, and treatment, particularly in underserved populations and regions.
