The founder editor-in-chief of the Journal of Medical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases (JoMMID) played a pivotal role in the journal's establishment and development. In collaboration with enthusiastic colleagues from the Pasteur Institute of Iran and other universities, this visionary leader initiated the journal's journey. He was instrumental in defining the journal's scope, mission, and vision, and developed long-term goals and objectives to establish JoMMID as a reputable source of scientific knowledge, a mission that continues to be upheld. He recruited a diverse editorial board and established rigorous peer-review processes to maintain high scientific integrity and quality standards. He also oversaw manuscript submission, review, and publication processes, coordinating with authors, reviewers, and editorial staff to ensure timely publication. Despite initial funding and staffing challenges that delayed the journal's publication for two years, the founder secured small grants from the Ministry of Health and donations from individuals. Later, the Pasteur Institute of Iran provided annual funding, significantly enhancing the journal's status. As the journal gained inclusion in additional scientific databases, the founder remained confident in building a more diverse and dedicated team of experts. To address proxy-related issues faced by international authors, he committed to improving the online submission and review process. This included integrating a user-friendly platform, a testament to his dedication to the journal's future. Under his leadership, JoMMID was indexed in several citation databases, such as DOAJ and ISC, increasing its visibility and submissions. The journal is now poised for indexing in high-ranking databases like COPE, EMBASE, Scopus, PubMed, and Web of Science.
