JoMMID invites submissions of high-quality original research, reviews, and other scholarly work related to all aspects of medical microbiology and infectious diseases.
Scope:
We welcome submissions on a wide range of topics, including but not limited to:
  • Bacterial Infections: Pathogenesis, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of bacterial infections, including antimicrobial resistance.
  • Viral Infections: Epidemiology, molecular biology, antiviral therapies, and vaccine development for viral infections.
  • Fungal Infections: Clinical manifestations, diagnosis, and management of fungal infections, including emerging fungal pathogens.
  • Parasitic Infections: Epidemiology, life cycle, pathogenesis, and control of parasitic infections.
  • Emerging Infectious Diseases: Surveillance, detection, and characterization of novel and re-emerging infectious diseases.
  • Clinical Microbiology: Laboratory diagnosis of infectious diseases, including molecular diagnostics and antimicrobial susceptibility testing.
  • Immunology of Infectious Diseases: Host-pathogen interactions, immune responses to infection, and immunomodulatory therapies.
  • Infectious Disease Epidemiology: Surveillance, outbreak investigation, and mathematical modeling of infectious diseases.
  • Global Health and Infectious Diseases: Impact of infectious diseases on global health, including travel medicine and neglected tropical diseases.
  • One Health: Interdisciplinary approaches to understanding and addressing the interconnectedness of human, animal, and environmental health in relation to infectious diseases.
  • Antimicrobial Stewardship: Strategies to optimize the use of antimicrobial agents and prevent the emergence of antimicrobial resistance.
  • Infection Prevention and Control: Measures to prevent and control healthcare-associated infections and community-acquired infections.
  • Vaccines and Immunization: Development, efficacy, and safety of vaccines for infectious diseases.
  • Infectious Diseases in Special Populations: Focus on infectious diseases in specific populations such as pregnant women, children, the elderly, and immunocompromised individuals.
Manuscript Types:
We accept the following types of manuscripts:
  • Original/ Research Articles: Reports of original research findings with clear scientific rationale, methodology, results, and conclusions.
  • Review Articles: Comprehensive overviews of specific topics in medical microbiology and infectious diseases, including full reviews, mini-reviews, systematic reviews and meta-analyses.
  • Short Communications/reports: Brief reports of significant findings that do not warrant a full-length research article.
  • Case Reports: Detailed descriptions of interesting or unusual clinical cases with educational value.
  • Clinical Trial Reports: Reports of findings from clinical trials related to infectious diseases.
  • Editorials: Opinion pieces on current topics of interest in the field.
  • Letters to the Editor: Comments or critiques on previously published articles.
  • Commentaries: A short, opinion-based article that provides analysis or perspective on a contemporary issue or a recently published article within the journal.
