Aims and Scope

The Journal of Medical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases (JoMMID) is a peer-reviewed, open-access quarterly publication of the Pasteur Institute of Iran. JoMMID aims to disseminate high-quality research and advance knowledge in the fields of medical microbiology, infectious diseases, and related disciplines.
We welcome submissions of original research articles, mini-reviews/full reviews, systematic reviews, meta-analyses, short communications/reports, case reports, letters to the editor, and commentaries that demonstrate scientific rigor, ethical integrity, and clinical relevance. The journal's scope encompasses, but is not limited to:

  1. Infectious diseases epidemiology and public health
  2. Emerging and re-emerging pathogens
  3. Advanced diagnostic techniques for human and animal infections
  4. Antimicrobial resistance mechanisms and novel therapeutic approaches
  5. Molecular epidemiology and genomic surveillance of pathogens
  6. Host-pathogen interactions and host susceptibility factors
  7. Immunology of infectious diseases and vaccine development
  8. Microbial pathogenesis and virulence mechanisms
  9. Vector-borne and zoonotic diseases
  10. One Health approaches to infectious diseases
  11. Environmental microbiology and its impact on health
  12. Microbiome studies in health and disease
JoMMID is committed to publishing cutting-edge research that contributes to our understanding of microbial pathogens, their interactions with hosts, and strategies for prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of infectious diseases. We particularly encourage submissions that:
  • Employ innovative methodologies or technologies
  • Address global health challenges
  • Translate basic science findings into clinical applications
  • Promote interdisciplinary collaborations
  • Include data sharing and reproducibility practices

All submitted manuscripts undergo rigorous peer review, focusing on scientific merit, originality, clarity of presentation, and relevance to the journal's scope. JoMMID adheres to the highest standards of publication ethics and encourages authors to follow best practices in research reporting.
By fostering the exchange of ideas and dissemination of knowledge, JoMMID aims to contribute to the advancement of medical microbiology and infectious diseases research, ultimately improving global health outcomes.
